Savannah House

The Savannah House is a Giraffe-house and visitor centre for for Rotterdam Zoo. The enclosure, modeled on African coral, has been designed to take advantage of passive solar heating and natural ventilation and lighting.

The accommodation for the giraffe is designed as a “shelter”. The design provides a comfortable place for the animals. It also gives them more living space, for the giraffes are free and can go in and out as they please.

Eneloop Lamp

TU Delft School of Architecture

Sid Wichienkuer proposal for the TU Delft School of Architecture used sections and topographies as a driving force. The building is
oriented around a central quad at its base, surrounded by the school’s library and a series of design laboratories.

As the building roses, each floor is centered around a gathering or communal space at its core, with other rooms radiating outwards. an expandable auditorium is centered on this level.

The building’s facade is kept porous with a series of horizontal pieces spaced apart. These levels can be used as outdoorseating and stairs, allowing students to climb the building.

Amphibian

Amphibian was developed as an aid for lifeguards patrolling the beaches. Comprising of beach shoes and extendable fin modules, the set is meant to help the rescue worker swim up faster towards the victim.

It has a unique retractable system that allows you to keep the modules retracted till you reach the waters.

On the way back, after the rescue, a simple jab of the toes on the seabed, retracts the modules once again.

The Wave is inspired by the hills, sea and sky of the surrounding area. The architectural challenges in the project has been to create a sculpture combined with functional and thoughtful residential into the smallest detail.

Wave is created with two faces, so that is great both from water and from the city where citizens are guaranteed a sea view and a beautiful sculpture. The same idea is drawn into the apartments through the big glass window, respectively, the undulating city landscape and the sea.

Sony Noise-Cancelling Earphones

Sony’s new DR-NC300D noise-cancelling in-ear earphones. The earphones comes with a in-line controller for selecting noise-cancelling options, General mode, Airplane mode and and Train mode.
Sony MDR-NC300D has 16mm drivers and offers 6-24,000Hz frequncy range, 16ohm impedance. The earphones need an AA battery to run. It will be released on 21 June for 30,975 Yen.
