Dotty and I have been nursing this piece of news for quite a few weeks now, especially since we have been wondering how to approach the short listed finalists with a plan.
I must first apologize of my silence as well as this project is seemingly dead. But its not, I have been revisiting the plan as well as looking at potential avenues of funding.
And we have found funding! Well at least enough funding to get one project into the prototype stage and perhaps even a short product run for sale.
As a result we need to alter the project plan a little.
However before this I still need to know if the Firmwareproject people are still interested to get their dream realized?
If so please read on. Here is the gist of the plan. The details will be released once Dotty and I get the back end formalized.
The concepts have been selected and now you will need to refine it into a 3D model to be submitted to Dotty and I via the IDAsia.org forum. By submitting your 3D you will then enter into the running. Basically then your 3D model together with the rest will be posted at the Firmwareproject website for public voting! In true digg fashion, the winning project, and the one that gets the most votes, will be given a grant by IDAsia.org to prototype this project.
In return the designer has the obligation to complete and finish this project. Furthermore IDAsia.org will ask for a % share in ownership of the project (we will finalize this once we work out the details with the funding), as well as a 2 year exclusive use of the design at IDAsia.org or Firmwareproject. This exclusivity is to allow IDAsia.org to help the designer market the project.
If you guys are still interested, you have to submit your concepts by the latest 05th Jan 2007. (Sorry for the rush!) Dotty and I will then sort out the files and post it. Official voting will start on Jan 10th 2007.
Once again thanks to all who participated and for waiting patiently for this project to happen. For those who missed out the first round, worry not as this project will be a bi-monthly or quarter one! So do stay tuned.
