The future of IDAsia.org in 2007

I must admit its been tough running IDAsia.org, many of our friends have not visited or contributed to the forum for a long time and with much Spam problems its been a hard to maintain and run. Even after our update I am still killing spammers daily. I am looking at switching forum engines so please bear with some of the changes.

Ok now back to serious matters, IDAsia.org is and has always been about networking. Thus we will continue to grow with this aspect. I think we will also continue with this blogging front page as its easy for me to manage as well as use all the wonderful tracking systems set up for websites. Central to this site is still the forum for designer for discussions, sharing ideas and swaping job hunting information. Thus I will continue to do my best to improve the forum and its engine.

However in the next few months Dotty and I will plan to expand on the idea that IDAsia.org is a networking hub for Industrial Designers from asia. We plan to do the following.
1) We will try to make IDAsia.org a blog network, similar to 9 rules or blogtopsites, but focus only on design blogs. We will hope to have a cool icons and chicklets for people to put on their site. In return we will have that rss listing on the side so people who come to the site can read what you wrote. If you are interested in getting your rss feed here please send me an email. Eventually we hope to monitised this site as a community and eventually share profits will all members.

2) We will be organizing a monthly “Design Blog Carnival” that will be hosted here at IDAsia.org. We have not decided if it will or will not be themed based, but it would be all about the best design articles of that month. We will post more information on this as time comes.

3)We will also be a “link news” network posting a list of interesting designs related articles written by our members or by other design blogs.

4)We will also be hosting Asia based design competitions, if you are interested to sponsor one, please contact me by email as well.

Well lets see and hope that 2007 will be a good year for Asian design.
